Tony:
Born in Hastings - East Sussex I left home at the age of 16 with 10 pounds and hitch-hiked down to Spain. There I learned the basics of guitar playing and some small measure of the Spanish language.
Arriving in Sydney - Australia at the age of 17 I worked a wide variety of jobs before becoming a professional musician in my early 20s. This enabled me to travel the world on the strings of a guitar until 1975 to return to Western Australia.
Dineke and I met in Port Hedland and decided to embark upon our venture of buying land and building a Backpackers facility at the seaside town of Cervantes.
The rest, as they say, is history.
Dineke:
Dineke comes from Hardinxveld - Holland and also left home for a life of travel and adventure.
She visited a wide variety of different countries before settling in Estartit - Spain for almost 5-years.
Arriving in Australia in January 1986 she worked a number of jobs around the nation before ending up in Port Hedland.
There she worked extensively in the tourism and hospitality industry gaining invaluable experience for our bold new venture.
Dineke is the real success story behind Pinnacles Beach Backpackers.
